In the world of fashion and design it seems that grey is the new beige and more often is being used as a background color with paint and accessories. The color grey has earned is rank in the world of design after many years of being considered a boring color. Why, you ask? Very simple.

In today's modern world women have come a long way gaining equality in the eyes of men. Also, men are more involved in positions that were typically held by women such as beauty and fashion designers. Due to this shift, fashion and design have taken themes and colors that were once considered more casual and using them to create a more gender neutral approach.

Grey is a great neutral color that can be inspirational and peaceful when combined with other bolder colors that alone would not have created the same effect. Colors such as orange, pink or yellow which are typically considered to be vibrant and stimulating can actually create an aggressive response from people after they are surrounded by it for a few hours at a time. By combining a neutral grey tone with any of these bolder colors it actually balances out the feeling in both colors providing a nice, calming effect.
