Do I Need to Buy an Expensive Stroller

When it comes to buying a baby stroller, many parents often think that a more expensive stroller is always a better choice than a lower priced model. While price is often directly relative to the quality of a product, higher price tag does not necessarily mean that you’ll get a stroller that is better for your needs.

Consider how often you plan to use the stroller when you are trying to decide how much to spend. If you will use your stroller on a daily basis buying a higher priced stroller that is more durable may be the best choice for you; however, if you simply want to have a stroller on hand for occasional use then it is not necessary to splurge.

When compared to one another, expensive strollers do not necessarily out perform the more affordable stroller models.

The advantages of choosing a higher end stroller include:

  • Frames made of high-grade lightweight aluminum, which makes them easier to lift.
  • Have a tendency to be more durable, which means that one stroller may last for multiple children.
  • Tend to offer more amenities such as adjustable handles, plusher seats, higher quality fabrics, reversible seats and more back support.
  • Typically have larger, shock absorbing swivel wheels that provide baby with a smoother ride and make it easier for you to push even when on rougher terrains like sand, snow or uneven sidewalks.

Make the Right Choice

Many parents often end up purchasing two or three different strollers to meet their needs throughout their child’s infancy so you might consider buying a more affordable model that meets your current needs rather than putting a large amount of money towards one stroller right away.

An inexpensive stroller may be a more suitable choice if your main need for the stroller will be quick trips to the store and other errands. Inexpensive models are also the best choice to use for airline travel since strollers are often damaged during the airline baggage process.

Whether you choose an economical model or a high-end designer model, the stroller should have brakes, be easily maneuverable and be a comfortable weight that you can lift in and out of a car. You should also keep in mind that all strollers are subject to typical stroller flaws, which include frames that bend out of shape, safety belts that may become loose, faulty wheels, locking devices that fail and buckles that break.
