In 1992, two native New Zealand parents went about designing a buggy that better accommodated their sporty lifestyle. They wanted a stroller that would safely handle the vigorous movements of their outdoor rendezvous for their children so they could bring them along. Soon the word of the stroller was spreading throughout the country and fellow New Zealand parents made this buggy brand the top selling stroller available.

The natural terrain of New Zealand is comprised of steep hills and mountains and can prove to be a great challenge for the parent who's pushing along a unfit buggy for the course. It was important to create an ergonomically sleek and lightweight design that could endure such a bumpy ride while not compromising the safety of the infant nor the parent. Therefore safety is the utmost important feature of the Mountain Buggy® design. All Mountain Buggies pass the safety standards for Australia/New Zealand Safety Standard test, AS/NZS 2088:2000, European Norm Standard EN 1888;2003, American Safety Standard ASTM F833-03 and British Standard BS 7409:1996 to insure a quality driven product delivered all over the world.

These baby strollers have been positively reviewed in significant consumer magazines and have received great acclaim and honor in New Zealand as a successful and respected business and exporter.

In 2007 New Zealand Post chose Mountain Buggy® to feature in a series of limited edition stamps celebrating iconic New Zealand inventions. The Clever Kiwis stamps also feature the Hamilton water jet, spreadable butter, the tranquillizer gun and the electric fence.

The Mountain Buggy® is manufactured in New Zealand at Tritec Manufacturing, an ISO 9002 accredited supplier, and comes with a 12 month warranty and full instructions. The current US supplier is Sycamore Kids, Inc. who also supplies folding wooden high chairs and booster seats from HandySitt Chairs.

There are several models to choose from including single, double and triple strollers, as well as a number of stroller accessories. Each model is unique and displays innovative design features including air filled tires, adjustable height and a one step folding mechanism. There are a variety of color options as well to suit specific tastes.
